when moving the parents (from this thread http://www.caudata.org/forum/messages/13/41834.html?1124699656 ) to a new location i found 3 surprise larvae in the bottom, i moved them into my ostracod tank and they have thrived since then, they are huge-nearing 2" each. i think they might be from those parents but may also have been imported in on plants from the group tank, it will take a while to see if they end up looking like that group.

Very nice Paris, I will go ahead and take 2. Just let me know how you want to ship them.

That's cool. Paris.

I am wondering why they are getting nice and big for you...might it be because the water is especially cool? Are you still living in Colorado?

This morning, I spotted what I thought was a tiny insect on a plant, and it turned out to be a C. pyrrhogaster morph -- the tiniest I've ever seen. I initially thought it was less than 1 cm even, but it turns out to be over 2 cm.

2 inches = 5.08 centimeters
2 centimeters = 0.7874016 inch

room temp is about 25C and 3 of them were in a 10 G tank full of still water(no airation but lots of plants & mulm) with lots of live food-blackworms to osteocods. i know of some reports about larger morphing at later stages having to do with low density of larvae. when these guys started spending more time at the top of the water than at the bottom, i moved them to a shallower container(even though the gills showed no signs of shrinking) as of today 2 have morphed and the other seems still to be taking its time. i have moved the 2 to a temp container full of fruit flies and leaves to hide in, they are real plump and have granulated skin already. i will try for a pic soon.

yeah but Tim, you have everything
