here is a posting of my breeding group of these guys, they are a certain race but i cant remember off the top of my head. i got them as juvies 6 years ago and they are definitely different. for a long time i thought i had all males because the genders look much alike. first a group shot...

nice pictures.
Is it ok to se gravel on newts aqua terrarium?

Nice ones. Are these recent photos? If so, I'm wondering how you have a male in breeding condition. For mine, this is the absolute most non-breeding time of the year. I don't expect to see pyrrhogaster in breeding condition until sometime this fall.

Is there some way you could find out what race they are? It would certainly be good to know.

im moving (across town) soon, so hopefully the necessity of packing will scare up the letter that came with them ( i have it somewhere

yeah, these pics were taken last week, weird eh? these guys are different, esp as females tails arent too long and their torso neither (as compared to the female in this thread esp http://www.caudata.org/forum/messages/13/41779.html?1124535626), the tail fillament on the fem is also strange, as far as i can remember ive never seen one on a female before. the fems dont get the big flappy paratoids like the males, but only 1 male really has that distinctively pronounced.

that blue male is in a blue(randy)mood, hes started fanning already!
