I have read that the Salamandra species give birth to larvae or fully developed juveniles depending on the envirnoment.

hi kamil...the salamanders are a variety from Lourds, southwest france which i believe give birth to fully developed young...i may be wrong..

Hi Ian,

I asked a friend who is Salamandra-crazy. He just told me, that fastuosa indeed is able to give birth to morphed juveniles and not necessarily gives birth to larvae. Sorry!

Best Greetings,

Kamil

Awesome! Good Luck raising them. I want to get Salamandra as I get older. They are my favorite.

thanks Cameron...i also have around twenty gallaica larvae born around three weeks ago..

This is exciting to see, so I can only imagine your response to waking up to these little beauties. These plus 20 larvae sounds like you have your hands FULL. Congratulations!

this is only the start, i have some marbled newts laying eggs also alpine and italian crested. I also plan to breed my mandarin newts for the first time this year and hopefully my kweichowensis. David i will get my daughter to post some pics of the adults later as i'm to computers what pavarotti is to gymnastics..

Ian,

Good job with the salamandra. How large are the juvis?

I had a single female gallaica (serra de arrabida) spawn 83 larva several weeks ago.

Travis

Travis
they are all around 4cm except one runt which i don't expect to survive. What size were your gallaica mine seem very skinny...ian

I can't match 83 (don't know who can) but my gallaica girl kicked out 42, tis the season. Ian's fastuosa babes are prettier for now

How old are they?

About 3 and a half weeks now Ryan. I hope I get lucky with fastuosa. Ian's are incredibly cute. I also have a bernardezi girl who's plump. Hopefully she's due and not just enjoying too many worms and crickets. 42 may seem like alot, but like Travis said, he got 82 out of a single female and he has quite a collection besides. Tis the season and hopefully lots of us get lucky with our animals
