Four years ago I had gotten a Japanese Fire Belly Newt from a local pet store. The newt apparently had a fungal infection and died shortly later on and the same thing happened to the next newt I got so I have up. Recently; however, I decided that I wanted to get another newt, so I bought a tank for him and ordered an Eastern Newt online and this is the setup I have for him. He seems to enjoy the tank and likes to explore around the plants and rock structure and is quite active. I ordered him a friend but unfortunately it was dead on arrival so I will be getting him a friend soon. He's in a 10 gallon tank with a good amount of plants and a rock structure breaking the surface of the water. I am very happy to have him, and he comes up to the side of the tank when he sees me.

So far I've been feeding him mostly bloodworms and some brine shrimp

I'm no expert, so don't take my word for it. But he seems to be a bit too big for baby brine shrimp. They're just too small to really nourish him significantly. I would go with black/tubifex worms, earthworms, or even Daphnia magna would be better. Just more efficient is the thing.
