I have a Japanese fire belly and he is about 7 years old plus how ever old he was when i got him. My question is how long is he going to live I have noticed he is putting on wieght, has wrinkles (sort of) and is being less active Thanks

I've heard of them living 20+, even up to 50 years in captivity. Since there is no way to know his age when he was bought, there's no way to know if he's "old" or not.

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
