I live in northern california. in summer time it can get up to 100-110 degrees and inside the house prob 95 or so. im afraid the water will get to warm for my axies. dont have the kind of money for a cooler. any suggestions are appreciated.

you could get a bottle of frozen water and stick that in the tank, or have a fan blowing over the water and put the tank in the coolest part of your house. they will not drop the temp enough though. i advise you put your axie in the fridge when the wether gets that high or its just going to stress him and probably kill him.

i will try the fan and ice first...its winter now. thank you for the info

Hello Jimmie,

I also live in California. You can construct a make-shift cooler in the summer much like this:

Adding a frozen water bottle to this set-up keeps the animals cool for 5-6 hours. The only problem is making sure the lid is secure enough to prevent escapes.

also, you will need to replace the frozen bottle every 5-6 hours, or the temp will just rise again. then you will start getting temp fluctuations whitch will stress your axies. but thats a good idea pin-pin.
