Kia Ora my name is Ali from NZ.

I own 5 Chinese Fire Belly Newt Efts.

I have owned some since they were mature larve and have been fortunate enough to witness them morph from aquatic to terrestrial form.

It's been 3-4 months since they morphed, but it did take them a little while to adapt to their land legs/new form.

They live in a 20 gallon tank that has approx a couple of cm of water in the bottom (they usually need to raise their head to lift it out of the water, or in the deepest places stand on their hind legs and also raise their head).

There are a number of fake rocks (ones you find in the reptile section of a pet store) and some aquarium wood that make up a few big island areas for them.

Most of them prefer to spend most of their time on land and a couple don't like the water that much at all, however they all travel in the water between islands in search of white worms. One of the Efts practically lives in the water and spends approx 40%-50% of his time submerged in it (worked out it was easier to catch white worms in the water than on the land).

Pics to come when I have a bit more time.

Question: I recently had an issue with my white worms and have not had any for the past two days, the pet store will not have any for at least another 4 more days, and the Efts have practically eaten every worm that was in the 20 gallon. How long can they go without food for?

Any recommendations? none of the pet stores have any live suitable foods (I've been ringing around).
