Hi,

I have been trying to google laws concerning the shipping of axolotl eggs and larvae and would like to know if anyone here could help me out with the following questions:

1) Can axolotl eggs be shipped to other countries outside of their own?
2) Is it legal to ship axolotls to/within South Africa?
3) Is it legal to ship to South African universities?

Many thanks to anyone who can help me :)

Hi, I'm also staying in SA and know a few people where you can get. You are can keep them but not sell them. You can't buy /import them.

Legally, shipping an egg is the same as shipping an animal. Since axolotls are CITES II, there is a bunch of paperwork involved to send them from any country to another country. It doesn't matter whether the recipient is a university or not.

I know nothing about the laws on such things within South Africa.
