So I was fishing up at lake Erie this weekend and got rained out so I had about 2 dozen leeches left over so I brought them home and well they didn't last very long. I put about 8 in my adult tank with 5 adults and only one or two leeches are left so I'm wondering now are leeches a safe food ? They seem to give my axies a interesting hunt and its quite entertaining to watch them stalk the leeches around the tank :)

Yes axies make great leech snacks.

I have a few leeches in my Neurergus kaiseri tank for about 2 months and they don't seem to bother with it. I ofcourse remove the leeches when I see them, but for some reason they keep coming back. I haven't seen a leech attached to my kaiseri and the kaiseri are just as active as usual. As long as there aren't to many leeches I think it is alright :)

Not all leeches are parasitic, and even those that are may not see amphibians as a host.
