Hi! I have a couple Blue Spots and would like to add a little lighting to my enclosure. They are currently in a terrestrial tank with a live moss substrate. The tank I acquired came with an aquarium hood with lights. I was wondering if that light source would be healthy for them. I know they like dark and cool environments, so I wasn't sure what kind of lighting aquarium hoods give off. Is there a certain kind of light I can purchase for the hood that is friendly for them? I plan on turning it off at night to keep their light cycles normal for them. Let me know what you all think!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
