I've got a problem, well actually I dont know if it's a problem, if you look closely to the glass of my tank you can see litlle dots on the glass like a thousand of them, they are really hard to see and if you look good you can see them move, they wont die with L-Ripercol (which isnt harmful for the axolotls

) should I do anything? They are really small not even a mm, and they always are glued somehow on the glass if I clean the glass they return in an hour or so...
Any suggestions? My dad says I should put them in another tank for a while and clean the tank with bleachwater and put it in the cold outside for a day...
And how do I keep attracting other animals besides my axies to the tank? Is it because of the food? I give them Frozen red mosquito larves, its written quality food on it??? I dont know...

The other small critters that find their way into your tank can come from anywhere: dust in the air, dirt on our hands, anything you put in the tank. But 99.9% of the time they are harmless. In fact, I would say they all become part of the ecosystem. As long as the tank isn't being stocked with too much nutrients (leftover food + animal waste), I really wouldn't worry about other critters that show up. See:

sounds like copepods... as Jenn says, they are harmless in a tank, nothing to worry about. if it wasnt for other life forms (especially bacteria) colonising our tanks we wouldnt be able to keep aquatic animals at all

I've already warned you about your name, Fidel. I'll take action within the next 48 hours if you don't use your real name.

When did you warn me? I didn't knew... you don't have to be so mad about it, it's just a name...

I warned you in another one of your threads several days ago.

I have had a similar thing on my tank twice now but instead of dots they are tiny white worms that wriggle around. The worms are only 1-2mm long and completely coat the glass in the tank. I was really worried about it so both times completely cleaned out the tank. I washed everything in boiling water before putting my axie back in. The worms were gone after that but came back about 8 weeks later. I repeated the procedure and can only hope they dont come back again.
Does anyone know what these white worms might be. Checked out Copepods on internet and dont think that is what is happening in my tank.
I have two tanks and it has only happened in one of them. I thought it either comes from blood worms or plants as these are the only things that differ between the tanks. Now I only feed pellets to be sure of food quality.
Can anyone help it really stresses my little girl out being moved out of her tank and into fresh water.
Are the worms something to be worried about?
Thanks heaps,
Kat

Do a google search for planaria. They usually pop up in new tanks, or wherever there is overfeeding and/or poor water quality, venturing out of the substrate to feed off the excess nutrients in the water. From what I understand, they're a natural part of your aquarium's system and won't harm your animals. Ignore them, do regular water changes, and avoid overfeeding and they should "disappear" (back into the substrate where they normally live.) That's the best I can do off the top of my head, but I can remember a post several months back that had some more information and (I think) informative links on the subject. Try searching the site for "planaria" or "little white worms" (I can't remember what the thread was called!)

Hi Leah,
Just found a thread on worms that sounded like the same thing. I guess they are nothing too much to worry about but they really freaked me out. At least they wont hurt the axies.
Horrible little things!
Cheers,
Kat

I think this is what is going on in my tank, and its probibly because i am over feeding her, but those little worms seem to be making her itch, unless it is something else, but there are thousands of dots, and really tiny white worms that I can hardly see, and they move on the glass so I know they are alive. I have noticed that My axie is starting to get longer. They were making her itch it would seem, and I only noticed them just a little while ago, as it would seem all day and before since i have gotten her she has been fine, but tonight she is so itchy, so I gave her a 10 minute salt bath, and now she is in the fridge in a clean seperate tank with fresh water and a small air stone supplying oxigen, luckily the door can still close on the tube and not cut the air off. Is it normal for her to be so itchy like this with these worms? I am so worried because I don't want to lose her, I thought I was doing everything right. any adivise?
