Hello everybody. My name is Christian. I am a 35 year old male and have always loved herping. I’m on a quest right now to document all the herps in the surrounding region. The rarest thing I’ve found is a spotted salamander so I’m at the beginning of this journey. My main focus is salamanders now, can’t find a simple red eft or eastern newt to save my life. Oh, I’m pretty overweight but I can hike decently. I will be losing weight as I herp and walk on the treadmill. I need a friend who is into herping and will come with me on adventures. Anybody in the Pittsburgh or surrounding area interested?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
