We've had our Axie for a few weeks now, she seems quite happy but I thought I'd share this odd thing she does. Every time I clean the tank I flatten the sand with the vacuum, and a few hours later it's all ridged up again! Seems she has pretty specific ideas about how her home should be. Or she's an aspiring architect!!

In the second pic she's sifting for the remains of her lunch. I usually feed her 2 times a day but I didn't last night, and today she seemed very hungry indeed!! She's gobbled up every single worm and is now sleeping it off under the plant. I think she has the hiccups though

Weird.

Thats the most coolest coloured axolotl I have ever seen... amazing...

Send some babies over to NZ please :)

That color is so amazing! She is beautiful and sounds like her personality matches her unique coloring. Thanks for sharing your little landscaper! :D

Thank you! She is an unusual colour, we had a choice of an albino, a black one, both of whom were about half her size and her, and she was the most active, swimming along the front of the tank so she was the obvious choice! She's just getting ready to go into her new big tank that we've been cycling for the last 2 weeks so I'll post some new pics then :) Now that we've figured out why the water is yellow (driftwood) and cleaned it up, it should be very pretty!

Wow that is amazing, she is so beautiful! Is that what they call an 'olive'
I want one.
My axie's re-arrange every day!

your axie is soooooooooooo cute. :D

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
