As of Thursday May 24th there is a new system for donating. Click on the Paid Donations link in your User CP (it's also linked from the donations page). Donor status is now automatically and instantly gained on completion of a donation. Donations now expire, depending on the amount donated. There are two options now: Donation subscripton, e.g. donate $5 every 3 months automatically, and One-time payment, e.g. pay $50 one time only (or do it 5 times if you want but it does not automatically bill you again after a certain time - i.e. it is not a subscription).
