Why is malachite green toxic/unsafe for axies? What are the symptoms it may give to an axie? I am asking cos I took my axie to a vet, and the vet described her medicine that has malachite green in it. I showed the list of unsafe medicine from this site to the vet, so he reduced the amount to 1/3 of what is meant for axies, and said to bathe my axie in it half an hour a day.Is this safe? I did bathe her twice, but she got quite bad after the second bath. She was too ill to swim or walk afterwards. I don't know whether it was the medicine (it also has formaldehyde in it), or because she is getting more ill. So yesterday I just let her rest, as she was too weak. I bought methylene blue instead. How much of it do I use? How long do I keep her in the bath?
10 Mins? 30 Mins?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated

The toxicity may be due to a number of factors. Please keep in mind that the vast majority of antibiotics, fungicides, and wormers are toxic to the host organism. They are usually more toxic to the targeted organism allowing for a dose usually that doesn't cause overt symptoms in the host organism.

Thank you again, Ed! Am not very good in chemistry, but I don't feel safe using malachite green after reading about its toxic effects in fish, even tho the amount used was a lot higher. Axies are more sensitive, as they don't have scales. Think I will use methylene blue instead, and keep axie in the fridge for a few days I think...?
