I've noticed that sometimes my marbled newts are active or at least awake out in the open during the day, I'm under the impression they are nocturnal so I'm concerned about this behavior and just wanted to know if anyone who also keeps them knows if this might be normal or if I'm doing something wrong possibly.

In and of itself, that shouldn’t be a cause for concern. I see mine out during the day sometimes too. I think that keeping them in a densely planted vivarium encourages that behavior.

Cool, I've got plenty of plant cover for them, id hoped it just meant they felt comfy and safe enough to explore or sleep out in the open

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
