Hi all,

Hope you and your Axie's are all well!

Just wanted to ask for some advice on Martha's condition!

I've noticed some small white fluff ball type things on her feathers and gills, which from my readings is most likely a fungus infection?

I've given her a salt bath today, and hope that will help her!

I'm just not sure what could be causing this!

We're using the API tests, and the readings have been 0 for Ammonia, 7.2-7.6 for pH levels, and the water is constantly at 16-17 degrees!

I'm very sad because this happened recently, and now she hasn't eaten in about two days! :(

Please find attached photos for reference.

Would love some advice or what to look out for?

Thank you very much!!

you should probably tea bath her. i am more concerned about her dorsal fin. why is it so declined? has she been in a stressful environment at some point in her life? she also looks a bit underweight. to tell if an axolotl is a healthy weight their body is the same size as their head.

When we got her at the pet store earlier this
they said she got into a fight recently and another axolotl was very aggressive towards her :(

She was very plump as of last week which is why we’re very concerned!

Do you recommend a black tea bath?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
