Just intrigued about this one, and can't find a reliable answer by Googling so I'm wondering if anyone has observed the same. My mature male firebelly (approx 18 years old) developed a magnifiecent tail about 6-7 years ago, and over the past two summers has had two quite considerable growth spurts. He is now still happily plump, but getting ridiculously long. Same diet, same tank conditions - although obviously our summer temps have risen. What on earth is going on?
