  1. what are the difference between axolotls and salamanders?
  2. what are the names of the axolotl colour and what do they look like?
  3. How often should I be feeding them?
  4. should I have an area where they can come out of the water?
  5. are they supposed to come out of the water?

Hi Megan,

1. Axolotls are salamanders
2. Have a look here: http://www.axolotl.org/genetics.htm
3. It depends on how old or large they are. Everything on the care of axolotls can be found here: http://www.axolotl.org/
4 & 5. No, axolotls do not come out of the water, they are fully aquatic. Once again, check out the axolotl site page.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
