hey everyone,

Fianlly my tank was ready, and yesterday i purchased two axolotls

Golden alibon is Axel and the other is Lottie.

Lottie seems to be the shyer one, but both seemed happy untill i did a water change today to clean up mess from frozenbrine shrimp. axel now wont stop swimming around the tank.

i think lottie may have been attaacked in her old tank. let me know what you think, its the mark under her lip.

also let me know if you think they are male or female. lottie has darkened toes.

haha

yeah its as creative as i get

but i have a feeling the axel is really a girl and lottie is a boy. oooppsss

good. i hadnt been testing regularly or changin water

guppies were still surving. than yesterday tested it and it was right =)

I'm still cycling my tank, havn't tested it today but it's looking good.
Ready for Austrlia day?

Kayalouise, the golden axie looks a little young to be sexed. How long is he/she? If it is an adult I would say a female.

From afar, the lip wound in pic 3 just looked like an open mouthed smile :D and I thought it was adorable lol how do you tell which ones the albino? My gold boy has bronzey eyes that are invisible in most photos, which would he be?

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
