Hi everyone!
A little while ago I picked up my second axxie so that my Hiccup would have a friend, well, turns out, Hiccup was actually a girl, and Blackjack and her had eggs!
Forward on a few months now, my babies are measuring in at 4+ inches in length and the few that I have left are enjoying their 40 Gallon tank..... Well, all but one, who I've dubbed 'the pipsqueek'
Pip is the runt of the litter - it measures in at a whopping ~2 inches and is currently residing in my old Betta tank.
I've tried to have it in a breeder net in the same tank as it's siblings, but the netting just gets bogged down by debris - I've tried letting it swim with it's siblings (while trying to clean the netting), and it promptly lost an arm. So Betta tank it is.
Pip has grown about an inch since I put it into isolation over a month ago, but it really doesn't seem to be catching up to it's siblings. Could there be something wrong?
I've noticed that it's a -really- bad hunter, I have to hold the food in front of its face for a bit for it to notice, maybe bad eyesight (do they make axxie glasses?)?
The strangest part is, is that to me it looks like it's back fin is always slanted to one side -- a spine deformity?
Any thoughts would be appreciated! Pip is my one true 'hold back' from all the babies since it's not exactly a 'normal' axxie.
