if you havent researched it i would do it before it is a little to late this link will tell you pretty much everything you need to know about rearing axolotls http://www.axolotl.org/rearing.htm hope i helped a lilttle bit
Probably somewhere close to 0 C (or 32 F).... There may be increased mortality at the lower temeperatures due to the increased period before hatching due to the slowed development of the embryos. This increased period may allow a greater risk of attack by predators and parasites.
The water doesn't get that cold here . I just thought I'd ask because if I use an outdoor setup instead of my indoor one I can give them more space etc.
If you are having them out side make sure u have some sort of good cover on top of wat u plan to keep them in because creatures may come and eat them and swimming insects and such as well
My axies have laid eggs in winter, when the water temp was around 10C. And I know people have kept axie eggs in the refrigerator for periods of time and they were fine (just slow).
Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation
Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
