Mixing Japenese and Chinese Fire bellies

I was wondering if I can put a chinese inside a japeneses cage. I am asking because it is hard to find japenese and none of the pet stores in my city sell or carry japenese newts anymore.

in a word no.

IMO you shouldn't mix any species unless you are 100% sure there will be no complications you can't overcome such as hybirdisation, contamination or aggression.

Try seeing if you can get captive bred animals in the a for sale/trade/ or give away section, you might find some there, and if you don't, still keep checking that section.

At the moment, there appear to be virtually NO sources of adult Japanese firebellies in the US/Canada. Lots of people on this forum would like to obtain them, but they just aren't there. I have juveniles, but they are slow-growing, and not a good bet for beginners.
