I've been having such bad luck recently, as always any advice would be really appreciated as I'm worried sick.
My remaining, and first, axolotl Toothless (original I know) is behaving strangely. He was laying spermatophores over the last few days, and hasn't been eating while doing so. Him refusing food is very unusual, he is normally ravenous all the time.
Today he is sitting slightly hunched, with his mouth a little open, making frequent gill movements and occasionally gulping. He seems very stressed. His cloaca is also wide open, and he doesn't seem to want to put his back legs on the ground.
I lost Toothless' tank-mate in March to septicemia, and the slightly open mouth and food refusal were symptoms of that. I'm absolutely terrified it might be the same.
I have a good vet, should I get Toothless there first thing for antibiotics?
Parameters:
NO2-0
NO3- 10
NH3- 0
pH- 7.2
GH- >4
KH- 3-6
Excuse his gills, they've always been a bit rubbish.
