Illness/Sickness: Mortimer will not eat...

This may sound mad...but could you fridge him? Maybe he's not eating because he's a bit constipated and needs to pass whatever's in his stomach first (like trapped wind). I know fridging is stressful for them and might not be the best option, but maybe it might help?

The other thing I was thinking was that you said his jaw was swollen...do you think this may be why his mouth is hanging open? Maybe it hurts to eat if his jaw is still sore. I was also wondering if he'd ever been kept on sand?

If either of these might be true it might explain his reluctance to eat - and apparently sometimes their jaws hang open if they've swallowed sand sometimes. But I have no idea what Mortimer's history is and I can see he is on bare bottom now...

If all else fails, maybe the vet is an option, or maybe he only wants to eat once a week as he's getting older. I can't say for sure, these are just some ideas.

He's eating again. He laid a ton of spermatophores the other day....I'm thinking that maybe that's part of why he hasn't been eating? I read that somewhere, but now I can't find it.....

I'm not sure, my Derpy laid (and still does) tons of spermatophores every night, tank was littered with them. He had trouble eating, like Mortimer, but now he eats lots again. Yet the spermatophores keep on coming. And the girls ain't interested
