i got my axie yesterday bout 2 o-clock and it wont eat and it just sits in the corner and doesent move what should i do

give it time to settle in!

it just be that it's not hungry. i tend to offer food every 2-3 days and mostly Snork will eat at this rate - Muff on the other hand goes a couple of days longer in between feeds

i wouldn't worry too much about the not moving thing - mostly lotls kinda lurk around not doing much

good luck mate - if you're worried then check the info pages on this site to make sure you've got things as comfortable as possible for the lil dude *grin*

that's quite normal. give it a day or two to settle down and it might start to eat something. what are you feeding it?

well i have tryed worms and then reptile sticks that go soft in water so they are easy to eat it says ideal for newts and stuff and it says easy to digest but also i am getting some liver and beef heart i am sure he will love that !!!

P.S. can anybody think of a cool name for ma lil dude

I tend to go to books or films for names.

Shakespear has great names for some characters...plus it sounds like your a pseudo-intellectual,,,lol

yeah can anyone else think of a name or i may call it elliot if nothin better comes up

carl can't you think of a name yourself? it's your pet, you should name him something that you like!

i cant think off one good name at all so i may name him elliot that sound loike a really good name for a newt

What does he look like?
Icarus is another I'd go for, or Daphne if it's a girl... Elliot is still my pick though

Axolotls aren't newts ... but I agree with Katy -- think up your own name. Do you have any favorite movie characters? Musicians? Cartoon characters? If you take a minute to think on your own, you could come up with something you really like.

For instance, I named my Tiger Salamander after a character from one of my favorite movies and I named my cat after a character from a TV show. It's not hard, just put some thought into it. If all else fails, pick up a pet name book at a book store, or look it up on the internet.

i have called him elliot also what are axies if they arnt newts are they fish

lol, no they are a form of salamander.

Still technically amphibians, mind, and quite closely related.

I named my axies after colors: Blue (the purple one), Red (one's got a little reddish tinge), and Hey You, the other one. lol

Axies do too stay in the water. They're permenantly aquatic, which is the purpose behind the gills.

Axies are a very special case, Carl.

Effectively they have lost the ability to morph but it doesn't really matter to them because they are what is known as Neotenic.

This means they even reproduce as larva. If you were to consider a butterfly then, if butterflies were neotenic the caterpillers would be able to breed and reproduce and not just the adults. Axies remain in their larval form for their entire lives.

Axies aren't just weird looking the whole lives are weird...and we love 'em for it.
