My Lucy axolotl has devolved faint red dots on his body. His parameters are fine ph is 7.8 nitrate below evrything else is zero
Temp goes from 60-63 during the day. It doesn’t go above 63 he has a good appetite he gets bock worms and earthworms and bloodworms sometimes.
I will attach an image or video if that works of the spots in question. The breeder I got him from said he seems fine to themz so.

He also looks like he has a dent in his head like a line

I dint hve an exact date but I got him about a month ago when he was 4 inches
The spots only look visible when I shine a phone light on him

Here’s a pic of the bottom of his head

I don't think anything looks wrong with him, but I would still seek a second opinion.

I just found out his lid was rusting, I took it off and am putting a egg crate lid on tmrw when I can get it. Do you think the rust caused this

Rusty, oh my, that might actually be an issue. Yeah, replace it with a new one if possible.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
