My axolotl has a bit of a tear on his/her tail and a scratch on his/her head. I am not all that worried about the injuries doing any serious damage but I am concerned that he/she will get an infection. Does anybody know how to prevent this from happening?

Good water quality and correct temps I.e 16-18c. You can also use Indian almond leaves in the tank.

I agree with Hayley. Keep the water perfect and add some Indian almond leaves, which have mild antibacterial and antifungal properties. They need to be left in the tank for at least a week, as they take a couple of days to break down (though you can use the teabags, which work quicker).
