My axolotls gills have been bitten of

just wondered in anyone could help me? i recently put put 2 pakistani loache(which have now been removed)in with my two axolotls and during the couple of days they were in there they have bitten of most parts of my axolotls gills,i just wondered if anyone knows if my axolotls will be ok and also if there gills will grow back or not.
