My axolots keep vomitting

Hi I have 2 axolotls about 4-5 months old and 10-12 cm long the last few days both of them have been vomiting daily I feed them twice a day so not sure if it is because they are over fed? Also my parameters are good except ammonia which I am having trouble keeping it down it 0.5 I was doing daily 50% water change but starting today doing twice daily change to try get it down. Could it be from the ammonia level or is my ammonia not going down because they are vomiting? Not sure what to do

What kind of food are you offering? Twice a day is probably too much food for 5 month old axolotls. Too much food can lead to vomiting.

Your ammonia problem may be tied to overfeeding as well. How big is your tank?

I feed them pellets in the morning and earthworms at night. The tank they are in at the moment is a 2 and a half foot, I have a 4ft on laybuy but still paying it off

I'd cut back your feeding. Earthworms 3x a week.

As a general rule if your axies tummy is thinner than its head then it needs feeding, if its tummy is wider than its head then dont feed it for a few days
They generally throw up when they have eaten too much as they are opportunistic eaters and will just snap at anything that moves.
Mine have been fed every other day since they were 6" and if their tummy was looking plump, then they skipped that feeding, they just look at you a bit grumpy hehe.

Thanks guys yes they are not skinny axies, so I will stop feeding so much and on a good not just checked the water and ammonia has gone down to 0.25 this evening but will defiantly start feeding them less
