My baby axolotls

Hi all i am a first time axolotl owner and grew up 9 babies from eggs they are now about a month old and are eating blood worms thought i would share a few photos

Well, that greenish-yellow color definitely looks like a GFP (green fluorescent protein), but it's hard to tell unless you shine a blacklight on them. The eyes aren't black, which means they're albino. So you might have GFP albinos.

Beautiful babies!!! How easy/tough was it raising them from eggs?

sorry for the late reply!! for my first time raising them it has been pretty good they require a lot of work especially when feeding them live food constantly but they are on bloodworms and pellets now i could do no more then 10 though as right now they are in the stage where they will nip at their siblings limbs i think if you are thinking about raising them from eggs do it!! its so much fun watching them grow up but just do not take on too many good luck

Gfp are genetically modified. Are they allowed in NZ? Perhaps these are good photos of some very nice golden's?

Both of mine are GFP, and you can see green in their eyes when a light is on. Blacklight obviously works as well.

They're a lovely colour.

I'd be surprised if GFP creatures are legal in New Zealand. NZ is (justifiably, I think) more antsy about biohazards and security than the UK is. Maybe someone knows more about the government's stance on genetic modification.

Ohh you feed them blood worms and pellets? I was thinking about switching over soon, after I run out of black worms. How do they eat them? By hand or jar or what have you?

yup they are on bloodworms i thaw out the bloodworms then i use some tweezers and how i got them to change over was i would wriggle the bloodworm in front of their face took a couple of tries for them to take the bloodworms by themselves but they do catch on pretty fast
