Hey, sorry if this is a bit of a pointless thread, but I just wanted to know if there's anything else I need to get.
My tank is in the middle of cycling and I have a freshwater master test kit thingy that I'm using.
My tank has been dechlorinated with stress coat and has sand and only a few little plants I got from the pet shop in it - planning on adding a few more this afternoon/tomorrow.
It also has a few ornaments and such things in it... I boiled the sand and ornaments in dechlorinated water in a big bowl over the BBQ and then cleaned them a bit. (I definitely didn't want any chemicals in there!)
I've got a magnet cleaner thing for algae removal, as I've read that any sort of sucker fish etc will be really risky to put in the tank.
I'm going to buy a light when i get paid next but I don't really know how they work in terms of attaching them to the tank... I'm sure I'll figure it out.
The tank is currently cycling with a few goldfish, just because I had a tank of very healthy goldfish anyway and figured it would be easier than watching some food or something rot... Ew.
It's all going quite well, I think my axies will be ready to put in when I get them in a week or two!
Now here's the part I need checking up on. (From Skylar in particular, as I know she keeps them)
I have a 40Lx20Wx50Hcm (approx - thats based on me looking at it. Lol I had a closer look this time. I don't know why I thought it was a 30x30 CUBE last time I glanced at it lmao) tank that has some gravel and a filter and some java moss that I've just added in it. It's the tank that my tropical fish just moved out of, so I figured the cycling process would not be necessary? The tropicals are very healthy. I take good care of my gorgeous fishies! I'm a bit obsessed. I'm going to put about 9 White Cloud Mountain Minnows in this tank and Check them for diseases and make sure they are FULLY healthy and then breed them. Once they're definitely healthy, I'll take Skylar's advice and put about 12 in the tank at a time, and they can be my axies tankmates/food.
If they start to nip the axies gills, I'll naturally remove them from the tank and just feed them as a very occassional treat, but I think my plan should work?
I've bought some axolotl pellets as food and will buy some worms to feed them when they grow a bit (i cant handle chopping up worms, sorry).
Is there anything I should consider/buy before buying my axolotls??? Or do I have it all under control? Thanks for reading this really long post... I just want to have very happy, healthy axolotls!!
