He is developing a white tail stripe already! Last year I think it was well into November before he got his tail stripe. I'll try to get some pics.

At last! Have taken some pics of my hong kongs. The male is clearly showing his white tail stripe here.

Nice algae in the tank :D

Thanks for uploading pics. I'm jealous for this FAT male. Is he just fanning the females?

Not witnessed fanning yet, but he is very restless at the moment.

Wonderful photos. The girls look adorable. :)

I was waiting for the article so havn't done anything yet, should I allready have started the cooling period?

My male looks quite different to yours. Not only by his fat.

This tail is relatively long and narrow mainly at the base of it. It`s a female I insist.

Sam- Mine have never been cooled. ;)

I agree with Juraj....that tail looks typically female to me....

You still think he's a female?

Female above, they both have spotted tails. Previous owner bred them.

That newt looks terribly skinny to me. It might be a good idea to feed him up before you breed him. Waxworms, earthworms, and bloodworms are all taken readily by mine.

I tried to make him fatter but at some point of good work he just refuses food. As you can see, female is well fed and looks good, but male is acting like teen girl with anorexia...

Have you tried any live food instead of frozen ?
Still looks like a skinny female to me. Could you please make another side photo but a little more transparent and with the whole body stretched.
