I was routinely checking the temperatures in my tanks the other day, and as i pointed the laser at the water's edge in my Hynobius dunni enclosure, one of them suddenly snaped at the laser. Hmmm, I thaught. The salamander was attracted to the movement of the laser.

Today I was once again chcking the temperature in some of my other tanks and noticed many of my newts and salamanders were drawn out by the light of the laser.

Then it just clicked. I could use the light from the laser to entice salamanders and newts to eat non living food! I plan to try this technique on some of my picky eaters.

Although, I do not want to get over zealous because I do not fully understand if there could be effects on the salamanders from the laser's shing so near to them.

It was just cool to make this little discovery:)

Haha this sounds similar to what I do with my dog, except we use a flashlight. That'd be great to use on picky eaters! I think the light will hurt their eyes though, so don't point it there.
