Hi, wondered if there is anything anyone knows about that I can do for my young axolotl he is around a year old and for the last two days he hasn't moved, his mouth is wide open and his chin is swollen/bottom of his mouth is swollen or full of water. Hes been sat on the bottom of the tank which is obviously normal but hes sat slightly lent on one side which hes never done before. I'm no expert but after moving his hide from around him and after multiple attempts to move him there should be some reaction should there not? Still nothing. He'd normally be moving about and enjoying a little swim and when it's food time he'd be there in a heart beat I've tried to feed him both days but nothing...

I'm not too hopeful for him tbh but I'll try any suggestions if it isn't too late. He was completely fine, as far as I could tell anyway, the day before I found him in the position he is in now.

Thanks in advance for any help or guidance

I haven't kept axies but I would recommend taking him to a vet. What do you have in the bottom of your tank? Could he have ingested gravel? Can you take a picture and show us?
