Thanks all, umm what sand should I use?, and where can I get it from?, I assuming beach sand would contain to much salt,
Thanks for listening to the advice and dont worry a lot of us have been misinformed I also started off with gravel due to the same advice and learnt the hard way with my poor axie pooping gravel for months
Organised some play sand, will pick it up on weekend, i finish work to late to get it otherwise so hopefully she doesnt eat any gravel before then, been thinking of starting an earthworm farm for her and am looking for a mate for her so she doesnt get lonley, have also convinced my housemate to swap tanks as the other one is large and doesnt have a light ect, maybe i should go digging in the garden for worms?, too hot here thou they will be to deep at the momment. I just had my tattoo touched up and joked to the artist to add some gills to it lol (its a salamander grawling up my calf with celtic designs of plants behind).
Untill I get some worms she has baby guppys to eat so hopefully she will be happy.
can I ask why I cannot use guppies bred myself?, the ones i have in tank atm were bought from pet shop as live food, but am unsure of why breeding my own not good? thanks for the advise zoe as I have owned 2 axies in the past (rex and red) and had them almost 10 years before they passed, and was ill informed and had no idea, rex used to "hoover" the gravel and spit it out an now I just feel bad as I wasnt taking the best care of them as I thought I was. This advise is invaluable and hopefully tequila and when I get her/him a mate and others will flourish!
