My new strategy

I read some old posts and saw that mudpuppies have a hard time eating the huge canadian nightcrawlers that i'm feeding it now. So i cut up one and put the pieces in an applesauce jar lid and placed it a the mouth of my mudpuppies cave. I will check it out in the morning and see if it ate any of the pieces. And get rid of the uneaten pieces. I post tomarrow to let you know how I did.

Origanally there were 4 pieces (as you can see in the photo) now there are three. The uneaten pieces were still moving so i'm going to leave them in there untill I get home. Tonight I will also do a more thorough job of checking out the tank to see if the piece that I belive was eaten was indeed eaten and not just under a rock or something.

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
