Question: My Pink axis keeps eating my wild types gills?! Help?

They are in a 20 gallon long tank, I have one pink leucistic and a wild type (related) and they are about 7 inches long (still juvenile), they have been together for a long time and have had no problems until last weekend, my pink one bit off my green one's right middle gill (his gills are gorgeous and super long and fluffy) and I thought It was odd of them. There is plenty of room in the tank and such and I came back and this weekend my green one's right top gill is half way gone too... All on the same side!

Recently my pink one has turned into a rather picky eater. At first when I feed him (i feed them cut up night crawlers) he will eat the first 1-3 right out of my tweezers but then he puts his nose in the sand, meaning for me to drop it so he can eat it himself, but recently, if the worm doesn't move, he doesn't eat it, and sometimes even when it does he won't but he still acts aggressively hungry.. I don't know why he is attacking my free axolotl...

Does anyone have any advise how to stop this or can tell me why he is doing this.

Axolotls can be very picky eaters at times. One day they'll love the worms, the next they won't want anything to do with them. You can try varying their diet with shrimp, salmon, or axolotl sinking pellets, or a different type of worm. It could also be that the leucistic gets hungry faster than you can feed it, and this makes it nippy. You could try leaving live food in the tank, such as glass or cherry shrimp. This way, the axolotls get snacks whenever they get hungry, instead of going after each other.
