I have a Pacific Giant Salamander named Godzilla. We have had him for over 6 months and he has been doing very well up until about three weeks ago. He went from eating a worm every day to eating one a week. Two weeks ago he stopped eating entirely. He used to be shiny but recently he has changed into a dull/milky color. Almost the way snakes change before they shed their skin. His eye are no longer shiny either. He doesn't go into his hiding places and just sits in the water. He is in a 45 gallon tank that is half land and half water with multiple hiding places and the room never gets over 70 degrees. Is there anything I can do for him? He looks so unhappy.

A picture of him and his tank would help a lot.
What are you feeding him?
Also I would try and keep it very cool, I would recommend keeping it at 50-55 F this time of year.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
