Today my tiger salamander started to circle like a dog nippin at his tail. So I made a quick med bucket to observe move and he just sat there like normal. He even managed to balance on his tail to get out of his wet paper towel icecream hell. But then no more weird circles and trying to his eat his tail off so we added some more water in his house in case his skin was dry and irrated, imagine if a salamander get an itch how does it itch it. Just ate crickets yesterday. I checked he muscles are good, walk normal, eats anything and everything you give him, I had my eatting out of my fingers the first day.

I don't know I think he is part dog, he begs for food, runs to the window to greet me when he sees or smells his crickets.

I am the only one in the family who touchs him - the mom - I am afraid he will have no libs with my crazy boys just to see that is will regrow. Dad slightly touchs it but understand but human contact and germs, so in our house he is isolated. We get crickets from a store. Dirt is coconut husks so we use only spring water. We do have a light but it is for critters who need very little heat from this light.

What are the temperatures like in or around it's enclosure? Is there sufficient dirt for it to bury itself?

Sounds like it may have been shedding its skin and eating it.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
