I've posted a couple of these babies here and there, here's one in Audrey's thread:
http://www.caudata.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49261
But since I've been taking a lot of pics recently (I'm thinking of the calendar if I get lucky with some excellent shot), I decided to take some of these and give them their own thread finally. Here are some T. grans larvae that I got in the mail as eggs in May, I think.
They may not have morphed yet, but they have that characteristic Taricha cute-face already; they have that down.

Wow, yours are so much bigger than mine! I think they are at least a month older than my oldest, but mine don't have any coloring yet. What are you feeding them?

They've been eating nothing but blackworms, since they were large enough. Before that, I'd skim the local pond for whatever I would get, daphnia usually.

They are about 2 or 2 1/2 inches. And good morning, they've morphed!

Keep a secure lid on, seems like they've already figured out how to climb. :D

Those are great photos, I'm surprised their coloration is so dark even before metamorphosis.

Their lids are all secure; I learned this lesson most painfully a couple years ago with some morphs.

Anyway, time for more pictures, and even if it's not time for more pics, here they are!

A baby who hasn't quite gotten flycatching down; babies discover their first jar; their new tank; and another baby. They are such perfect miniatures of adults, a complete joy!

Also, a wannabe escapee. I thank the good habits I learned in prison (twice a day counts and more often for escape risks); it's saved me losing more than one newt.

(ha ha, I only work there)
