I've never seen one quite so reddish! I had to look up tomato frogs to make sure they were different!
I have two. Both are green most of the time, sometimes they go brown. But its definitely a brown! No shade of red. Maybe he'll be bluish when he changes?
Mine are in a 45 on my breakfast bar above my kitchen sink. I like to feed them just before I start doing dishes -lol its better than tv. I've got two now - I'd like to have 4 again - maybe I'll check out the petshop again.
Yeah, the brown means the enclosures a litle too humid. If I were you I may consider making the whole cover screen. It may seem a little odd and jarring for an experienced herp keeper, but they like lower humidity.
Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation
Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
