Ok, I know I posted a thread about Slinky (the one with a couple of stubs for gills) and the fact i thought he had fungus. Remember it changed in a few hours to a tumour type thing to like a coating on the end of his gills? Then the next day it was gone?
Well the day after my little Wisp (who has just grown a lovley set of frilly gills that look far too big for him) had the same type of thing but behind his gills and I thought id keep an eye on it to see if it would disappear like Slinkys did. The next day its still there but doesnt look fuzzy like fungus should. So i thought maybe its his gills growing even more? Anyway yesterday I did a water change and by the time i had finished that and other stuff i didnt have time to do the salt thing plus i wanted to keep an eye on it more.
Today I cant see it properly yet, but it may be my imagination or the fact hes too far away but i cant really see the white thing anymore but his gills look quite pale and really furry. It kinda looks to me like hes losing his lovely gills now. will he grow them back if he is wether its fungus or not?
I havnt checked properly yet mind you so ill have to update later.

What I wanna know is when axies are growing or even regenerating their gills do they have a white coating on the end of the stub sometimes?

And would a 10minute twice a day salt bath hurt them even if the fungus has gone or it wasnt fungus? Should I still treat both to be safe and can I treat them in the same tub while having the salt bath?

thankyou.

Salt baths will stress them out if they don't have fungus.

These guys are new. Their gills will grow and change until they reach their 'equilibrium' point. Growing gills can sometimes look like blisters, or lumps. When gills are pale, they're sleeping or resting. They usually pink up during feeding.

Keep up with the tank-cleaning, and make sure their water quality is good, and they should be fine.

My golden albino axy had virtually no gills when I got him back and now they are growing sporadically,at the end of the gill stalk it looks white when new growth is appearing.
