I just got three axis about a year old. I wad told that the faster one would be the female and the ones with bulges underneath would be male. Well only one is slightly larger. All three seem to have the same tiny bulge. Again tiny. So I guess I need more help in trying to figure out what sex they are. Thanks

Sorry. This is what I have right now

Even at a year old they can surprise you! The leucistic looks female, as does the wildtype I can see, but the other wildtype is hidden behind the other.

Here are photos of the bottom. Thanks

Any one confirm for sure that these are females? Thanks

They all look female to me, but you could still get a surprise!

I'd say three females as well. But I was wondering, what's the little thing near/on the cloaca of your wildtype (third picture)? It looks a bit pinkish?

(I'm not saying it's something bad, I just don't recognize it. Here to learn!)

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
