I found this little guy in with my baby melanoid albinos, well at least that's what I thought they were, and noticed that he looked decidedly grey so out he came and out came the camera.
I hope you can see what I mean he or she is clearly melanoid with the absence of shiny patches and the eyes have always puzzled me being the colour they are but now the grey mixed with the gold patches that I would expect to see has me puzzled. I like it, I'm just puzzled
Any insight's would be more than welcome. I'm sure he was white a few days ago, well to the naked eye at least and there may be more that look like this as they all have the same eyes, I haven't looked that closely at all of them yet. I'll try for a better pic tomorrow too.
It's 7 weeks old today, that's probably important ;)
It's a huge photo just click to see it full size

Just wish Dillon and Chrysta would stop throwing me curve balls

Definitely melanoid.

With how pale the eyes are, I would think it's either a.) a weird looking albino, or b.) hypomelanistic. That's not a color phase, but rather a mutation that causes the animal to not create much dark pigment.

I would expect the latter to be the case, especially if you don't have multiple oddities like that.

Hypomelanistic that's a new one. All the Melanoid "albino" babies, all 12 of them originally, had the same grey eyes, I'll have to check their bodies more closely to see if they are still white and yellow or not. I've been out all day today so didn't get time. Will try tomorrow.

LOL Thanks Boo I think it's super cute too

edited to add...
OK been reading about Hypomelanoids and that would make sense it would certainly explain their eyes. So it would make him/them melanoid since he lacks the irradiphores? and wild if he had them right? May have to keep this one too just to see what he turns out like. ;)

Right.

And if he was wildtype, he would just look really pale, probably a white/grey, with yellow and iridophore patches.
