Need some advice on new newt tank setup

Hi.
I got a new newt and its in a 30 gal tank with ten gals water with rock platforms raised just out of the water for the land aspect. I would say land to water is 70% water 30% land with a water running section for the filter so it don't hit the water hard to scare it

I need some advice on what I should do permenantly for a set up with little to no money to do it with,

I've house frogs and such before but this will be my first newt so I realy do need some advice on what the setup should have in it.

Here is the set up right now.

note::: I did add more water to it so it would be closer to the top of the rock and the ruff edges have been filed smooth and wont hurt the newt

I would advice you to increase the water volume. Pachytriton are not likely to ever use the terrestrial parts and if they do, it´s a reason to be very concerned. Fill the tank all the way and make sure to have a scape proof lid.
The rocks are fine but you can add more hiding places if you want.
Even though plants are rare in their natural habitat, you could put some in the tank. They will help with water quality and offer visual barriers too. These newts like to be hidden and secure.

I agree, it looks like a paddletail (Pachytriton). For a long-term setup, you have everything you need. Just raise the water level some (which may mean adding some more rocks). Be sure you have a completely secure lid to guard against escape.

Paddletails like a bit of current, so it would be OK to have the water from the filter spill directly, not over a rock.

awsome and thanks for the advice on this, it is a paddletail, ive added a few more gallons worth of water and raised the rocks for the filter there about 12 gallons in there now, ill be looking for more rocks to crawl around tomarrow and feel comfortable
i also got rid of the other land mass in the tank so he wont have it anymore

note:: the other larger land mass has been moved and tilted to provide somewhat of a hiding spot and a lil dry land retreat when she feels fit.

Don´t be afraid of raising the water volume to the top. the more water you have, the easier it will be to maintain adequate parametres and the more stable it will be.

got it ill post updates soon but dont want my filter to hang off the side so it wont be all the way to the top.

i added more ledges to make the water feature which i like a lot, as for rocks, it will have to wait till i can get some in the next few days, i also put goast shrimp and tiny feeder minos in there and she also eats shrimp pellets from time to time
