Illness/Sickness: New axi owner looking for help

Hello. New to the forum but very excited to have experienced axolotle lovers to help. Our first axi has been doing fine, but then suddenly he/she developed a skin problem, almost over night. I have been researching this forum and expect the next step to be a salt or tea bath or a fridge visit. The photos show the condition on the head and sides. Thank you.

I would start salt baths and check water parameters. It looks like a fungal infection to me. Try to keep the light down to reduce stress as well.

I am wondering if I need to have an air stone in the tank, or is a filter running good enough? There is an air stick in there now.
