Hi all, my name is Shauna and my partner's daughter is the proud owner of 2 axolotls Terry and Squishy.

Although we requested juveniles it seems we have ended up with adults and 2 weeks after settling them into their new home, a couple of hundred eggs.

So crash course in learning how to care, raise, feed etc has led me here to ask you all a million questions to ensure wonderful lives for my little ones

Off to get an API master test kit today as some of the babies have nubs and will need to start separating.

Welcome! What a shock that must have been! You should be able to find all the info you need on here :)

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
