New axie... help

Hey guys, I bought my first axie today. He was being kept in a pet shop with gravel and another axie that was bigger than him... His gills look a little funny... I just don't know if he's sick and if I should do anything to him. Here are pics:

they look like theyve become axie din dins to me! not to worry, they should grow back in time

I agree with Sharn, they've become axie snacks. If you don't see any signs of fungus, then don't worry too much. You may see it come up to the surface for gulps of air more often, and you could add an airstone to increase aeration of the water.

I'm very pleased to report that Fantasia is settling very well into his new home. His new tankmate, Balthazaa, who is looking very healthy in quarantine, is very healthy also.

Fantasia's gills are growing back really well and there aren't any signs of fungus. He's not even going to the top as frequently as I expected him to have to.

Just a minor question, cos I dno't want to start a new thread: How long do I quarantine Balthazaa for? Both are looking very healthy and both tanks' water is healthy and the same, if that contributes...

Quarrantine is normally a 30 day waiting game

His gills do look stubby hope your other one doesn't pick on him.

Ah I think "he's" a little too young to actually know what sex he is, but by looking I think it's more of a girl!! Haha, I like the name, it makes me think of Mickey Mouse. (The disney fantasia...)

Ah I checked up on him again today and he ate from my hands for the first time!! I was so happy. He's alot happier and they gills are continuing to grow.
