Hi fellow Caudateans,

I just purchased an Eheim Classic canister filter. it gives options for multiple ways to layer the various micro-bacterial options for the 2217 model. Is anyone else running a canister? Should I go heavier on pads than Micro-Bact fillers?

Any advice helps, thank you so much

The filter pads do two jobs: they remove detritus, and they provide surface area for the growth of beneficial bacteria.

You should layer the pads with the coarsest filter closest to the input, making the pads finer as the water flows.

The bacteria will grow on all the filter pads, as well as any 'bio-media' that you may have in there.

Thank you Kaysie!! I know Ehiem gives a couple options, but I do not like playing trial and error with my livestock! And that is what out group is about, sharing knowledge. You rock!
